The video, which became the official clip of the track, is a collaboration of Byrne with the Detroit School of Arts, filmed in part by the Radio and TV students, with the presence of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble of the school.
In addition, Byrne released a short documentary titled "American Utopia: Detroit," which tells a bit more about this collaboration, with student testimonials. According to the caption of the two videos, the broadcast royalties will go to the Detroit School of Arts.
"American Utopia" is the singer's first work in 14 years, but has already had a lot of criticism from his fans for not collaborating with women in his songs.
